Alain Piette

Mr. Piette is the Michigan SBDC Technology Team manager. In his most recent assignment, Alain was president of an advanced manufacturing company. The company was a technology spinout from a large automotive supplier. His activities included the technology spinout, the marketing and commercialization and leading the advanced R&D activities. The company focused its efforts in the aerospace, military and transportation industries. Alain has also worked in Europe, Southern Africa, Central and South America for international corporations such as DuPont, Sherwin Williams and Kongsberg Automotive. He has also been involved with turn-around, startup and M&A activities.

For the Michigan SBDC, Alain concentrates on the following:

• Overall statewide knowledge of the entrepreneurial high tech ecosystem and resources
• Strong knowledge of the agricultural trends, structures and incentives
• Understanding of the aerospace and defense industries, their partners and funding mechanisms
• Advising on BAF and pitch deck submissions
• Resolution of interpretation of program-driven rules and guidelines
• Extensive experience in organizational development, technology transfer and international expansion to the team.

Alain is a passionate equestrian and operates a small horse breeding farm.

He earned a B.S.B.A. in finance and an MBA from Wayne State University.
