Fake delivery emails during Covid-19
Have you received an email stating a shipment of yours is on hold? BleepingComputer is reporting that you aren’t alone. They report phishing emails pretending to be from DHL, FedEx, and UPS have been identified containing malicious links and attachments. The emails state that your package is on hold due to the Covid-19 lockdown and to schedule a pickup instead by clicking the link.
These types of phishing emails are not new, but using Covid-19 as a reason your package is not delivered is very clever. The cyber criminals are playing on the Covid-19 fear and hoping to worry you into clicking the link so you can get your needed package. If you have ordered a package and are concerned about its delivery, the best thing you can do is to either call the shipper or by entering in your tracking number, both of these should be done by going to the legitimate website of the shipper and not by following an email you received.
