This local bakery and gourmet cinnamon rolls shop has brought generational recipes to the tables of the communities in and around Petoskey, Michigan.
Grandma Matilda Dewes (Tillie), born 1889, crafted a cinnamon roll from a family German Recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation over the past 100 years.
To help get the bakery started and well positioned for a successful launch, small business owners Jeff and Patti Dewes were connected with the Michigan SBDC and Growth Team Consultant Jim McLain.
After they sold out all of their products during their grand opening, they realized their next challenge to further grow their business was transitioning to eCommerce and boosting their online presence. They worked with Jim who connected them to marketing support, website development, and more.
“We cannot imagine being where we are at without the help and support of the Michigan SBDC, from helping us secure a grant for the development of our website, to guiding us through a systematic marketing program along with assisting in developing a solid business plan. We are grateful for the day that Jim McLain walked through our door.” – Jeff and Patti Dewes
Recently, Tillie’s Tafel has seen an increase in revenue and has expanded its team by adding ten additional employees to the business. Learn more about Tillie’s Tafel and check out their menu by visiting www.tilliestafel.com.
