Chris Campbell and Sandee Kuhfeldt met as “superfans” through a local youth football program in Clay Township, MI. Their enthusiasm for community and sports runs so deep that when the local spirit wear shop went up for sale, they jumped at the opportunity to become business partners and buy it.

“Originally, Scoreboard N More was a small mom-and-pop home-based business. We had a vision of taking it to the next level, but didn’t have the know-how,” said Chris. “That’s when we reached out to the Michigan SBDC’s Business Consultant Shannon Schwabe. She’s helped us so much.” 

According to Shannon, “‘I’ve been working with Scoreboard N More for six years on the different phases of growing their business. Most recently, we’ve identified their goals, core values, mission, and purpose through our Focus Four™ program. I’ve also helped them get more comfortable with their financials so they can see each of their revenue streams and expenses. And we’ve explored various marketing avenues and outlets, including their website.”

Today Scoreboard N More offers full apparel decoration: embroidery, screen printing, direct-to-film, banners, promo products, vehicle and marine graphics. Chris and Sandee have added staff and purchased a new, larger facility. They’ve defined their vision and mission to be “fostering growth and connecting communities” where “small businesses and entrepreneurs are the backbone of Clay Township.” Chris noted, “My advice to other entrepreneurs all the time is to reach out to the Michigan SBDC. The resources they provide are invaluable, all at no cost to you.” 

Shannon replied, “My proudest moment as a business consultant is when they don’t need me anymore – when I’ve worked with them, taught them to do their financials, how to market, and I can just check in on them once in a while to see how they’re doing. To me that means I’ve done my job in helping them be more successful.”
