Uplift Michigan™ PITCH BLACK Training Program
Michigan SBDC’s PITCH BLACK Grand Rapids is a unique pitch competition aimed toward uplifting Black-owned businesses in Kent County.
Our Uplift Michigan training will help you create a dynamic business pitch to compete for your share of $10,000 in cash awards.
To be considered for the PITCH BLACK competition, completion of the training program is required.

Uplift Michigan PITCH BLACK training preparation offers:
- Interactive 1 hour mentor led virtual group learning once a week for 6 weeks.
- Personal 1:1 business coaching with a Michigan SBDC consultant.
- Easy-to-use training content.
- Peer support.
Upon successful completion, participants will be equipped with a pitch presentation and a pitch deck for a 3 – 5 minute competition. This content can also be used for additional opportunities.
There is no cost to participate.
APPLICATIONS: Applications close on Friday, July 14th, 5 p.m. ET.
SELECTED PARTICIPANTS: Will be notified of acceptance by Friday, July 21st.
Save the date for the virtual kick-off session on Wednesday, August 2, 12 p.m. ET.
PITCH BLACK competition is held in-person on Thursday, September 28th.
(Priority will be given to geographically disadvantaged areas, and/or economically disadvantaged or diverse small businesses.)
